Pickled Shrimp

After posting this picture on Instagram over the weekend I figured I would share this ridiculously delicious low country recipe for pickled shrimp.  It was originally adapted from Charleston Receipts but I have tweaked a few things.  Definitely make 1 day ahead of when you will be serving.  Everything needs to marinate for at least 24 hours.

(grainy IPhone pic-bah!!!)

PICKLED SHRIMP

2lbs shrimp (boil with old bay and salt/peel)
2 cans artichoke
1 can black pitted olives (optional)
1-2 sliced white onions
bay leaves
1 sliced lemon

*put layers of the above in a container and let sit 24 hours

marinade to pour over each layer
1/2 cup olive oil
1/2 cup tarragon vinegar
1/4 cup lemon juice
2 crushed cloves of garlic
2 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp dry mustard
1 tsp sugar
2-3 shakes cayenne pepper
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp pickling spices

Perfect hors d'oeuvres  for a cocktail party or anytime!

Painting Unload

I thought it had been a while since I had shown y'all some of my paintings, so here ya go.  Since taking these pictures I have shipped a few to a store in Kentucky, Adele, and delivered a few to a local store in Mount Pleasant called Eclectic (you must go by if you have not already!!!!!  Located in the old Belvas).

This canvas below was a WIP but I never snapped a picture of it once complete.  You can see it in person at Eclectic if you are interested???

These next three pictures have been shipped out to Adele in Lexington, Ky.  I was sad to part with these but hope they will find new homes soon!

Have you seen my little wall o art in Novel.?  It's constantly changing but this what it looked like earlier in the week.

A little shelf rearranging at home.  Blue's my favorite color.  In case it wasn't clear.

Rut Roh...looks like MM (Mischief Mouse) has been caught red handed.  Little flower bed has no chance....
Naturally sweater was ruined.
Why buy white?

Backtracking NYC

I cannot believe it has taken me this long to post about (part of) our trip to NYC we took two weeks ago!!!!  It was one of those 24 hour trips that we packed at least 72 hours of activity into.  One of my main reasons for going was to go check out my long time friend, Kate Reynolds space, Studio Four.  You heard of it?  You should check it out online here or better yet stop by and visit when in NYC.  Places like this are so worth the in person visit.  I can truthfully say that every fabric, wallpaper, rug in there I would put in my house.  No kidding.  Kate and her biz partner Stacy have amazing taste and style to say the least.

One of my favorite textile designers that they carry is the line Eskayel.  If you follow me on Pinterest you probably have noticed a few pins from her line.  I took some Iphone pics when I was there that really do not do the fabric justice but I just wanted to share how unbelievably awesome they are...

These pics are of fabric you can buy by the yard but she also has pre-made pillows, wall hangings, wallpaper, etc....

I spy a polar bear:)

Hope you have  a fantastic weekend!
I see potty training in my near future-Whoopie!!!  On that note don't you wish there was a service that offered to potty train your child in a weekend for you.  100% guarantee that they will never have an accident from that day forward.  I'm telling you someone could make a million dollars if they started that biz-sign me up!
