I tried....

So I keep seeing this pin coming up on Pinterest (even though it's from last year I thought the look is pretty timeless) and I thought I would give the look a whirl.  It's so me.  Solids, easy and comfortable.  Should have worn my nude wedges (will do next time) but when at work that means on my hands and knees painting on the floor all day so my snakeskin flats had to do.  The skirt above is from Topshop and loving the pleats.   But I have to say I think I like a straight skirt on me better, so this navy Library option was the way to go!!!!  Also paired with a Library belt-ha-shout out to my girl Lauren!

On another note, loving my new shade of red/orange/pink by OPI called "MonSooner  or Later."  Love, Love, Love it!!  I will spare you a pic of my toes but just trust me here.  Even the ladies working the nail salon gave me a thumbs up!  It's the perfect shade of coral.

Been hard at work this week getting Novel. all squared away for our big End of Summer Sale coming up this Thursday, September 20.  Hope you locals can come out to receive deep discounts!!!  Woohoo!!!  The sale runs 12-7 on Thursday so try to scoot by on your lunch break or after work.  You know when there's a party with these girls there's bound to be bubbly a flowing!!!!

If you follow me on Instagram (wayway123) then this is old news, but yesterday I started our Instagram wall in the hallway up at Novel.  We all have so many pictures over the last year from parties here, nights out on the town, merchandise, etc so we thought it would be fun to post them all over the wall for all our peeps to look at while their emptying their wallets with us-ha!!!  Seriously though, come visit us if you can, bound to be a festive time!!!!!

Fall Wishes

I am clearly still getting the hang of this Photoshop thing but learning as I go!  Its actually really fun to mess around with (with the very few skills that I have) but can be a bit of a time sucker.  Kind of hard to read the font below but I wanted to share a few great deals I found over the weekend.  I thought this Old Navy blouse was a steal and it's on SALE!!!  I did end up ordering it because it was only $19 so I will give you the full report once it arrives!!!  Also, I'm totally loving these wedges!!!  Am I crazy?  That nude/blush color goes with everything!!!  And this necklace....no words.  I love, love, love it but it is WAY out of my price range so it will just have to look pretty from my laptop screen.

So tell me, what are some of your favorite Fall Finds?

Don't forget to mark your calendars for this Thursday, September 20 and stop by our Summer Sale at Novel.!!!  Lots of great deals to be had!!!

Bright Idea

Y'all I swear if it's not one thing, it's another.  You see, I like to jump the gun.  When I see something I like/love I usually get it on the spot (if the price is within reason of course) without doing any measuring or color comparisons to make sure it would work in our space.  Ehhmm, refer back to this lighting post if you have forgotten.  So, many months back I saw these awesome metal/jute twine wrapped pendants at Celadon (local home store for those of you from out of town) and I just had to have them.
They would work SOMEWHERE right?
Wrong.
I could not find one place to put them so rather than hang onto them I am going to TRY selling them.  They were $65 a piece but I would sell them for $100 for the pair.  They still have the tags and have never been used.  They need a good home!  So, please, any takers????

Novel. Organization

Feeling very inspired lately in several different areas of my life but one area that's in the forefront is our office/kitchen space at Novel.  Man, do you ever live/work in a space where you go through the motions day in and day out and you look around and a lot (a year) of time has gone by and suddenly you freak out and have to change it all.  "It" being all the clutter, junk, mess, things you need to throw away but don't because you fear you or someone may need it in the future type of place.  Well,  I am describing our space.  It was ridiculous what we had accumulated in there over time!!!  Lauren and I went to town yesterday after we both had internal freak outs with it all.  We literally ripped the whole room open and started over.  Feels good to do that sometimes.  Check and check.  Then you feel like you can breathe...again.
Here are some inspiring pictures from our Novel. Pinterest page.  Hopefully I can get you some good pics of the "new office" this week.  I am so mad at myself because I totally forgot to take before pics-AGGG why do I do that??????

Oh and don't forget to come to our SALE next Thursday, September 20!!!  Deep discounts not to be missed!!!!

Wrap It or Throw It

What would you do?  I'm torn as to what to do with this awesome piece of fabric I snagged from my mom.  I am absolutely smitten with it and want to make the right decision as to how to "use it best."

ignore pillows in background...new ones to come

Mom always used it as our dining room table table cloth-redundant much???.   I'm trying to decide if I should a) continue to use it as a tablecloth (although our dining room table is long and rectangular-still could work I suppose), b) upholster my headboard (that I don't have yet) or c) use it as a throw at the end of our bed????  Let me show you a few examples...

Upholstered Headboards

All time favorite above!!!!

You know I love a blue and white print!

Loving all components of this room above!!!

Honeydew + Black Bean Tacos

Odd combo right?  Truth be told, these were not paired together but I just liked this honeydew pic when I was sifting through all my Labor Day pics from the beach.   Loving these colors paired together.

Moving on to the real reason for this Tuesday Food Day post 2 days later...

Black Bean + Chipotle Sweet Potatoes + Guac Tacos
With a Side order of Grilled Shrimp

Wow y'all must think I eat the same things every day?  I do to some extent but just mix in a few different ingredients here and there.  This recipe is so stinking good I think I could eat it every week!  There are a lot of components to this recipe but it's so worth it!
Recipe below is courtesy of

Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 medium onion, diced
  • 1 medium sweet potato, cut into 1/2″ cubes
  • 1/2 cup black beans
  • 1 chipotle in adobo sauce
  • 2 tablespoons adobo sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • Juice from one lime
  • 4 taco shells (hard or soft)
  • Guacamole:
  • 1 avocado
  • 1/4 medium onion, diced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 serrano pepper, diced
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • juice from 1/2 lime
  • 1 small tomato, diced
  • handful of cilantro
Instructions
  1. Heat olive oil over medium heat in skillet. Add onions and let cook until onions begin to soften, 3-4 minutes. Next, stir in sweet potatoes and continue to cook for another 3-4 minutes.
  2. In a mortar and pestle, combine the chipotle, adobo sauce, honey, and lime juice. Break apart the chipotle into small pieces (alternatively, you can cut up the chipotle.) Pour into the pan with the sweet potatoes and reduce the heat to medium-low. Add beans and continue to cook until sweet potatoes have softened, 10-15 minutes.
  3. While sweet potatoes cook, scoop out the insides of the avocado. Add onions, garlic, pepper, salt, and lime juice. Mash until the guacamole has your favorite consistency. Fold in tomato and cilantro. Taste and add more salt if needed.
  4. To serve, scoop a spoonful of guacamole onto the bottom of the taco and layer with sweet potato mixture. Sprinkle extra cilantro on top if desired.
We also roasted frozen corn kernels to serve on top.  Have y'all ever done this?  It is the best thing since sliced bread-ha!!!  My sister in law introduced me to this very simple concept and I'm so glad she did.  All you do is drizzle a small amount of olive oil on the pan, add the frozen corn, salt and pepper and roast in the oven at 400 degrees for  about 20 minutes.  Such a perfect accompaniment to black beans in any form!

Julienned fresh spinach, radicchio and cilantro were another addition.  And I of course doused this baby in Sriracha and salsa.  You have to give this recipe a whirl!!!

*warning this recipe is pretty spicy (which you know I love but some of you may not)
